Dangers of Wood Dust (DVD or
Video Tape)
Fortunately dangerous dust consists of the smallest particles in the dust chain. They are the first and easiest to move in the airstream, heavier particles due to inertia behave differently in the air stream. These simple facts give us means to easily control the lethal dust, without our controls the lethal dust can float around in your shop for hours. John Timby's Depression Chamber system of dust removal is based on an irreversible scientific fact and has been acknowledged by the media for the past ten years as the only dust removal system. This is how the system works. Make a Depression Chamber around the cutting area, then all the dangerous dust will be taken into the pipe causing the depression, and not contaminating your shop. That is our system in a nut shell, complicated ? No! Like most things in life, simplicity wins. John explains in the DVD or Video tape how you can make varius types of chambers to achieve a dust free workshop. There are two ways to achieve the removal of dust, both are vented outdoors. The cyclone, which vents 30 microns dust, or John's impervious twin upper bag system also venting at about 30 microns. Of these two options, the cyclone is not only the easiest to build, but the most efficient . With other systems, filter efficiency is a problem. John asked the filter manufacturer FEFFA would it be wise to use their filters as he is susceptible to fine dust. They evaded the question and replied, "We have a very good one micron filter" Pressed further they admitted that the cleanest house is only 70% clean, and gave him the address of a firm concerned with the statistics on total dust removal in a house. The cyclone has the dust contained throughout it's passage and is the easiest and most efficient way to go. If you cannot vent outdoors there are still ways John can help you to improve the present dust levels in your workshop. C. Alexander
